Where we work
The Somali giraffe project operates within the counties of Garissa, Wajir, Mandera in eastern Kenya, and some parts of southwest Somalia along the Kenya-Somalia border. The region host perhaps the largest numbers of the reticulated giraffes with the majority of their population occurring in communally own unprotected lands. The region’s inhabitants are nomadic pastoralists of Somali descent keeping large herds of livestock as their major source of livelihood.
