About the Project

The Somali Giraffe Project is a trans-boundary community-based conservation project that focuses on the conservation and recovery of the endangered reticulated giraffe through Research, Education, and Community involvement.

Despite the majority of the somali giraffe populations being found within eastern Kenya, conservation efforts have been limited within the region due to its inaccessibility.

Hence the Somali giraffe project is set to lead the conservation of these critical, yet isolated population of reticulated giraffes by addressing some of its major threats such as unprecedented poaching, diseases, and infrastructural development

Vision

To secure a sustainable future for the Somali giraffe and its habitat through participatory conservation, research and local community engagements.

Mission
