Although the region harbours the majority of reticulated giraffe populations, little is known about their population abundance, densities and distribution along the Kenya-Somalia border. We are currently working to establish the population demography of the reticulated giraffe across the three counties.

Further, we strive to set up a regional reticulated giraffe database based on photography that identifies each reticulated giraffe with their unique skin coat. The data obtained in this study will provide a road map towards effective conservation of the endangered reticulated giraffes by allowing us to prioritize and direct conservation efforts towards concentration areas.
